Original scientific paper The paper elaborates a mathematical model forming the basis for a computer-simulated model for a diesel propulsion engine. The model is applied in the analysis of steady and transient operating conditions of a turbocharged slow-speed diesel propulsion engine and a fixed blade propeller. Special attention has been paid to examining the stability and availability under a...
متن کاملFault Diagnosis and Isolation of the Marine Diesel Engine Turbocharger System
Due to the complexity of the ship's systems early detection and isolation of the faults is of the essential importance for realization of a safe operation and necessary level of functionality. In this paper the main objectives of fault diagnosis are presented, such as detection, isolation and faults analysis. By simulating the appropriate faults in the turbocharger of the marine two stroke dies...
متن کاملTurbocharger Matching Method for Reducing Residual Concentration in a Turbocharged Gasoline Engine
In a turbocharged engine, preserving the maximum amount of exhaust pulse energy for turbine operation will result in improved low end torque and engine transient response. However, the exhaust flow entering the turbine is highly unsteady, and the presence of the turbine as a restriction in the exhaust flow results in a higher pressure at the cylinder exhaust ports and consequently poor scavengi...
متن کاملScalable turbocharger performance maps for dynamic state-based engine models
Adapting turbocharger performance maps to a form suitable for dynamic simulations is challenging for the following reasons: (1) the amount of available data is typically limited, (2) data are typically not provided for the entire operating range of the compressor and turbine and (3) the performance data are non-linear. To overcome these challenges, curve fits are typically generated using the p...
